Hazardous Decomposition or Byproducts: Incomplete combustion may
produce carbon monoxide and/or heavy smoke.
Hazardous Polymerization: Will not occur.
SECTION VI - HEALTH HAZARD DATA
INHALATION HEALTH RISKS AND SYMPTOMS OF EXPOSURE:
Breathing small amounts of this material during normal handling is not
likely to cause harmful effects. Breathing large amounts may be harmful.
Signs and symptoms of exposure to this material through breathing may
include irritation of the nose, throat and airways, central nervous system
depression (dizziness, drowsiness, weakness, fatigue, nausea, headache,
unconsciousness and respiratory failure). If symptoms develop, remove
to fresh air and seek immediate medical attention. If not breathing, give
artificial respiration.
SKIN AND EYE CONTACT HEALTH RISKS AND SYMPTOMS OF EXPOSURE:
Prolonged or repeated contact may dry the skin. Symptoms may include redness,
burning, drying and cracking of skin, and skin burns and stinging, redness
and tearing of the eyes.
SKIN ABSORPTION HEALTH RISKS AND SYMPTOMS OF EXPOSURE:
A component of this material may be absorbed through the skin in potentially
harmful amounts following prolonged exposure.
INGESTION HEALTH RISKS AND SYMPTOMS OF EXPOSURE:
Irritation to the mouth, throat and stomach. Not hazardous in normal industrial
use. May cause nausea, vomiting, pain and stomach upset (e.g. Diarrhea).
HEALTH HAZARDS (ACUTE AND CHRONIC):
Eyes: Can cause severe irritation, redness, tearing and blurred vision.
Skin: Prolonged or repeated contact can cause irritation, defatting, dermatitis.
Breathing: Inhalation can cause irritation, nausea, unconsciousness. Swallowing:
will cause severe gastrointestinal irritation. Aspiration can be fatal.
CARCINOGENICITY: NTP CARCINOGEN: No IARC MONOGRAPHS:
No.
OSHA REGULATED: Yes
No supplementary information
MEDICAL CONDITIONS GENERALLY AGGRAVATED BY EXPOSURE:
Prolonged exposure may result in long term damage to lungs, liver or kidneys.
Preexisting eye, skin and respiratory disorders may be aggravated by exposure
to this product.
EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES:
EYE CONTACT: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at
least 15 minutes while holding eyelids open. Rinse continuously with water
while on way to get medical attention.
SKIN CONTACT: Immediately remove contaminated clothing or shoes,
wipe excess from skin and flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.
Use soap if readily available or follow by thorough washing with soap
and water. Do not reuse clothing until thoroughly decontaminated. Get
medical attention.
INHALATION: Remove victim to fresh air and provide oxygen if breathing
is difficult. Give artificial respiration if not breathing. Get medical
attention.
INGESTION: Do NOT induce vomiting. Give one glass of water unless
victim is drowsy, convulsing, or unconscious. Seek medical attention immediately.
NOTE TO PHYSICIANS: This material is an aspiration hazard. Potential
danger from aspiration must be weighed against possible oral toxicity
when deciding to induce vomiting.
SECTION VII - PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING AND USE
STEPS TO BE TAKEN IN CASE MATERIAL IS RELEASED OR SPILLED:
Isolate spill from all sources of ignition. Collect with suitable absorbent.
Ventilate area. Avoid breathing vapors. Eliminate ignition sources. Use
self-contained breathing apparatus or air mask in confined area for large
spills. Contain spill. Use absorbent clay or sawdust to absorb spill.
Place in a closed chemical waste container. If spill is greater than 1,000
lbs. notify National Response Center 1-800-424-8802.
WASTE DISPOSAL METHOD:
Store below 90 Deg F. Do not reuse empty containers. Do not use product
near sources of ignition or open flames. Keep unused containers closed.
Do not take internally. Dispose of used product and all contaminated materials
in accordance with all applicable Federal, State, and local regulations.
OTHER PRECAUTIONS:
Avoid inhalation of vapors and skin contact where possible. Remove contaminated
clothing and shoes at once. Wash all exposed areas with soap. Reports
have associated prolonged exposure to solvents with brain and nervous
system damage. Intentional misuse by inhaling concentrated vapors may
be fatal. Target organs: Eyes, Skin, Liver, Respiratory and Central Nervous
Systems. FIRE DANGER! This product contains natural oils that can cause
SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION in some materials if not disposed of properly.
DO NOT throw rags, brushes, rollers or items with the product on them
in a trash container. Place rags and other items with the product on them
in a metal container filled with water, seal the container, and dispose
of it in accordance with local, State and Federal regulations.
SECTION VIII - CONTROL MEASURES
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION:
Use a NIOSH approved respirator to remove overspray when spraying outdoors
or in a well ventilated area. In closed areas use a NIOSH approved respirator
with a combination mechanical filter/chemical cartridge to remove overspray
and organic vapors.
VENTILATION:
Provide sufficient mechanical (general and/or local exhaust) ventilation
to maintain exposure below recommended TLV at all times.
PROTECTIVE GLOVES:
Neoprene or other impermeable gloves are recommended.
EYE PROTECTION:
Safety glasses w/splash shields or chemical goggles is recommended.
OTHER PROTECTIVE CLOTHING OR EQUIPMENT:
Eye wash and safety showers should be available in work areas. Protective
clothing covering exposed skin areas.
WORK/HYGIENIC PRACTICES:
Wash contaminated clothing before reusing. Wash hands before eating, smoking
or using the bathroom.
